Remedies for cold & sore throat

Hate having the common cold and fever and having to stay in bed? Here's some proven remedies that works well for me..

1. Take lots of garlics, preferably chopped up garlics. You can take them with food.

2. 20 minutes before you go to bed, apply some ointment (that you normally use for cold) on cotton swabs and place them at several places in your bedroom. Close all windows and door. If you have air-conditioning, adjust to minimum fan speed. When you are ready to retire to bed, you'll find great comfort in inhaling the 'conditioned' air into your lungs.

3. Alternatively, you may apply some ointment into a bowl of hot boiling water, cover your had with a towel and inhale the steam or vapour. Just be sure not to get you face toasted! For stubborn phlegm, get someone to smack your back with cupped hands in intervals while you cough ocassionally to loosen the phlegm. Really works for me. For maximum result, do this exercise 2 to 3 times daily until you feel better.

4. At the first sign of sore throat quickly gurgle with warm water mixed with salt. This, I can assure you, will prevent you from having further sore throat and getting into fever just to have your body fighting all the bacteria around your throat. However, you will need to repeat this action another one or two times to really prevent all the bacteria from multiplying.

5. Latest reasearch says that taking lots of Vitamin C when you are already having cold will do little to cure it. But then again, it is good to take some of it in order to give strength to your immunity system.
